Alexa D. Deleon, J.D.
Associate attorney
Alexa D. Deleon is an attorney with a legal background in immigration law, litigation, and client advocacy. She is passionate about helping individuals and families understand their legal options as they navigate the U.S. immigration system. She believes effective legal representation begins with listening to clients, understanding their circumstances, and ensuring they have the information they need to make informed decisions about their future.
Her experience in immigration law began with observing immigration proceedings and attorney-client consultations, including meetings at detention facilities. These early experiences offered her insight into the legal and personal challenges that can arise in immigration cases and helped shape her interest in advocating for individuals navigating an unfamiliar, often complicated legal system.
During her studies at South Texas College of Law Houston, she gained practical experience through the Immigration Clinic, where she worked directly with clients, conducted intake interviews, prepared immigration applications and petitions, and assisted with filings submitted to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Working alongside attorneys also allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of case preparation, client communication, and the importance of careful attention to detail in immigration matters.
Her legal experience extends beyond immigration law. Through her work in criminal defense and civil litigation, she developed skills in legal research, drafting motions and discovery documents, preparing cases, and communicating with clients about their legal proceedings. These experiences have contributed to her ability to approach legal matters with diligence, organization, and a broad understanding of the legal process.
She values the opportunity to work with people from diverse backgrounds and understands that every client's circumstances are different. Her goal is to help clients feel comfortable asking questions, understand the steps involved in their cases, and know that their concerns are being taken seriously.
Outside of her professional life, she is family-oriented and values the time she spends with her loved ones. Her appreciation for family and the importance of strong family connections complements her commitment to helping individuals and families pursue stability and opportunity through the immigration process.
